May I kindly ask if anybody knows; Who invented the ħ letter first? The International Phonetic Association or people from Malta for the Maltese language. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 08:23, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Maltese alphabet article, ħ was standardized in 1866. The International Phonetics Association wasn't created untill 1897, and started with the Romic alphabet before developing the modern International Phonetic Alphabet.
